The Requirements
To be a good fit for the Project Accountant opportunity you should have:- A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; we also will consider non-degreed candidates with significant relevant experience.
- Three to five years of project accounting experience, including supporting multiple high-budget projects simultaneously. Construction industry experience is strongly preferred. Quick question for you - click here
- Experience with development/construction software such as Timberline, Sage, or Procore is a definite advantage.
- Experience with MANY of the following: budget development/tracking, work in progress (WIP), cost accounting, contracting, change orders, forecasting, pro formas, project cash flow, pay applications, and bank loans.
- A general understanding of AP/AR, general ledger, account reconciliation, and reporting.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Exceptional organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong attention to detail and solid problem solving skills.
- A strong work ethic and sense of urgency.
- A team player approach.
- A customer service approach toward both internal and external contacts.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
The Role
Reporting to the President, Aquilini America Management, you will join a team of 8 to 10 in this new branch. In addition to the President, you'll interact regularly with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, and other colleagues. You'll also work with the corporate Accounting team at Aquilini Development and Construction.While we have accounting processes and systems in place, we created this role to provide "feet on the ground" support here in Los Angeles, and you will focus on project accounting. At any given time you will support multiple projects with budgets ranging from $15 million to $50 million. Your specific activities will include:
- Preparing and tracking project budgets to help manage project costs.
- Creating time and material billings and helping ensure accurate job costing.
- Monitoring pay applications and ensuring payments are made in a timely manner, including matching scheduled payments to actual delivered work.
- Preparing loan draws and managing our relationships with banks.
- Delivering regular and ad hoc reports to the President and corporate Accounting team.
- Helping administer contracts and process change orders.
- Supporting the forecasting process.
- Contributing to cash flow management for the overall company.
- Helping with pro formas.
- And more.
